39) Pretensions

39) Pretensions
When a cat jumped,
Fell pieces of ivory tower,
Crashed on the footpath,
Down below.

With it fell,
Centuries old dirt,
Kept deep hidden,
Beneath the façade,
At heights which pain the neck,
To sight it.

Beggars slept on,
Rolled in old sacks,
Pedestrians looked up,
Only to make sure
If it was workers
Or just wind.

Two heavily carved iron gates,
Separated from it’s gratings,
Stood stiff, between loosened tiles.
Windows, somehow made
Dirty from inside,
Blocks sunlight,
Which exposes
The cracks in the wall
And hides the color
Faded by the rain, to the brink.

Pretensions
Snobbishness, shocking indifference of common man, distance and luxury maintained by rich class lead to this one, but still couldn’t hate enough.
